Arsene Wenger plays down reports linking Jonny Evans to Arsenal
Arsene Wenger has stressed that Arsenal are not close to signing any new players amid reports linking the club to Jonny Evans. The West Bromwich Albion defender was a rumoured target for Manchester City in the summer and has since been linked with a number of other top-flight clubs, including the Gunners. A report in The Sun suggested that the Northern Irishman is on the verge of a switch to the Emirates Stadium, but Wenger has denied that such a move is about to take place.
