Copa America: Torreira reaches quarter-final
The Copa America group stage came to a close on Monday evening. Scroll down to find out what happened: Lucas Torreira was an unused substitute as Uruguay secured a dramatic win over Chile at the Maracana. Our diminutive midfielder, who had started the previous game against Japan, was rested in favour of Federico Valverde, with La Celeste requiring just one point to qualify for the quarter-finals. After a goalless first half, Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani expertly headed home Jonathan Rodriguez’s cross in the 82nd minute to fire his country into the last eight. Torreira will have the chance to feature for Uruguay again when they face Peru on Saturday at 8pm (UK time)....
