Arsenal goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson quits social media over abuse

Arsenal goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson has deactivated his Twitter account following his error-strewn performance against Manchester City in the EFL Cup. The former Dijon shot-stopper did not cover himself in glory for Gabriel Jesus's third-minute opener, and Runarsson then allowed Riyad Mahrez's free-kick to squirm through his hands as the winger restored City's lead in the second half. The Icelandic goalkeeper made a fine save from Jesus earlier in the game, but Runarsson was nevertheless widely criticised on social media for his performance in Arsenal's 4-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium, and the 25-year-old's Twitter account no longer exists.
