Arsenal 'sent transfer target a plane' to stop him signing for Real Madrid instead

Arsenal icon Robert Pires has revealed that the Londoners sent a private plane to gazump Real Madrid in the race for the Frenchman's signature. Pires is widely acknowledged as one of the Premier League's greatest ever wingers after his stunning six-year stint in north London. The classy wide-man racked up over 280 appearances and fired 87 goals during his days at Highbury under Arsene Wenger to cement his spot in Arsenal folklore.
