Mikel Arteta slammed for "totally unnecessary" gesture before Arsenal penalty

Mikel Arteta has been condemned by football fans for his 'totally unnecessary' gesture before Arsenal were awarded their penalty today. The Arsenal manager has been slated after he appeared to gesture to the referee as he reviewed VAR during his side's 3-1 win over Manchester United this afternoon. Nuno Tavares opened the scoring after just three minutes. Then just under 30 minutes later, Tavares played the ball to Eddie Nketiah who smashed the ball home but was ruled offside. During the VAR check, officials ruled that the Tavares was in fact fouled by Alex Telles in the box and a penalty was given to Arsenal after referee Craig Pawson reviewed the play back on the pitchside monitor.
