Newcastle United never overcame an early red card for Aleksandar Mitrovic as they lost 1-0 at home to Arsenal. Mitrovic, making his Premier League bow for Newcastle, was shown a straight red for putting his studs down the shin of Francis Coquelin. It was the moment that changes the game and Newcastle never created a clear chance after that moment whilst having Tim Krul to thank for keeping the scoreline down. Arsenal, in truth, weren’t that much better and seemed to be lacking a striker with a cutting edge.
