Arsenal blow as Welbeck is ruled out for ‘months' following surgery
Arsenal have confirmed that striker Danny Welbeck has undergone surgery on his left knee and will subsequently be ruled out for ‘a number of months' (via Arsenal.com). Welbeck has been struggling with a knee problem since April with the injury initially described as a minor one by Arsene Wenger. However, as his rehabilitation dragged on with no return date given by the club, it almost became inevitable that Welbeck may have to undergo surgery in order to cure this problem. What is striking in the statement given by the club is that the decision to operate on Welbeck was taken last week, well in advance of deadline day.
