Wenger explains Walcott selection

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that he felt that Theo Walcott could be the man to break down Stoke and that is why he selected him at the Emirates Stadium yesterday. The England international usually plays second fiddle to Olivier Giroud in the number nine role, but was handed a rare start against the Potters in the Premier League on Saturday. Walcott managed to open the scoring in a 2-0 victory, with Giroud coming off the bench to get the all-important second and ensure the Gunners picked up a valuable three points. The former Southampton prodigy has been used as a winger for the bulk of his career, but has made his desire to play centrally painstakingly clear over recent years....
