Defender claims Arsenal deserved nothing following Barcelona loss
Arsenal star Per Mertesacker has claimed that his side didn’t deserve anything after their round-of-sixteen Champions League clash against Barcelona on Tuesday, Mirror reports. The first leg was held at the Emirates and the Gunners knew they needed a positive result to have any chance in the second leg, but Arsene Wenger’s men conceded two Lionel Messi goals in the last 20 minutes to almost end their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals. It could have been quite different though, with Arsenal having an early chance through Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but the England international could only fire his shot straight at Marc-Andre ter Stegen just a few yards from goal.
