Özil given prestigious award ahead of Watford clash

Mesut Özil was named Germany's Player of the Year ahead of their surprising 3-2 loss against England on Saturday night, clinching nearly half of the total votes, as reported by German outlet DFB. The playmaker has been phenomenal this season and is more than deserving of the award. He has unquestionably been our best player throughout the campaign, and has been excellent for Germany as well. Özil was an assist machine during the first half of the season, and looked well on his way to absolutely smashing Thierry Henry's Premier League assist record.
