Wenger confirms key Arsenal duo to miss season opener
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that key duo Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud will be given an extended break after their exertions in Euro 2016 – which will see the French pair potentially miss the start of the new Premier League season. The duo were involved in France’s efforts to win the European Championships on home soil but were ultimately disappointed as Didier Deschamps’ men slipped to defeat against Portugal in the final. Both players were starters for the competition hosts and as such have had little rest after an extensive Premier League campaign in 2015-16.
