Arsene Wenger confirms another Arsenal injury blow ahead of Liverpool opener

Gabriel, 25, suffered ankle ligament injury deep into stoppage time in their 3-2 friendly win over City after clashing with midfielder Yaya Toure. The Gunners will now go into their Premier League opener with Liverpool on Sunday (4pm) without three of their most senior centre-backs, with only Calum Chambers, 21, and Rob Holding, 20, available. Per Mertesacker, 31, has been ruled out for a number of months with a knee injury, while Laurent Koscielny has only just returned to first-team training after his Euro 2016 campaign with France.
