Wenger selects new Arsenal captain
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will make Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla the club’s captain this season according to The Daily Star. The playmaker’s compatriot Mikel Arteta was previously the Gunners’ captain but he has departed the Emirates Stadium this summer. Per Mertesacker would have been a natural choice to take over the skipper’s armband but the giant German is out of action for a number of months after being injured in pre-season. As such, Cazorla is set to be given the honour for tomorrow’s mouth-watering clash with rivals Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.
