Premier League clubs pass £1bn spending in one transfer window
Premier League clubs have spent more than £1bn in a single transfer window for the first time ever. The 2015-16 campaign saw the £1bn mark breached over both the summer and winter windows, but the summer window of 2016 has now surpassed the landmark total on its own. A record-breaking new TV deal has seen the prices of transfers rocket up this summer, most notably when Manchester United brought Paul Pogba to Old Trafford for a world-record fee of £89m.
