Per Mertesacker the latest victim of Arsenal's 'cursed' captain's armband
Former Arsenal winger Robert Pires believes the Gunners have a great chance of winning the Premier League title. Sometimes it seems like the captain's armband at Arsenal is cursed. Ever since Patrick Vieira left the club in 2005, Arsenal's skippers have been beset by problems. Some, like Mikel Arteta, have suffered with terrible injuries, while others have been embroiled in exhausting transfer sagas, as was the case with Thierry Henry and Cesc Fabregas.
