Revealed: Why Wenger Turned Down Modric
Harry Redknapp has revealed that Arsene Wenger was interested in signing Luka Modric and has explained why he opted against the Croatia international. Redknapp managed Modric during his time in charge of Tottenham before the midfielder moved to Real Madrid in 2012. Modric joined Spurs from Dinamo Zagreb and quickly became one of the best central midfielders in Europe before opting to swap White Hart Lane for the Bernabeu. Redknapp says that while Wenger was an admirer of Modric he felt he was too lightweight to play in central midfield after being converted from a wide role.
