Patrick Vieira: Jose Mourinho gets his players to respect tactics, Arsene Wenger does not
The Frenchman made 279 league appearances for Arsenal under Arsene Wenger and also had a spell working with Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan. Vieira has experienced both managerial styles, learning from Mourinho’s tactical guile to Wenger’s ‘total football’ philosophy. At 41 years of age, Vieira is now manager of New York City and has been at the MLS outfit since January 2016. And when asked whether he would prefer his team to be more like Wenger or Mourinho’s, the former midfielder struggled to choose one over the other.
