It is only five weeks since Arsene Wenger suggested, rather strangely it seemed at the time, that Alexis Sanchez entering the final year of his contract was "an ideal situation" for Arsenal. In the intervening time, Sanchez has nursed an injury which conveniently kept him out of the start of the season as he tried to find an escape route from the club.
