Watford vs Arsenal: Per Mertesacker's goal did not please Robbie Savage
Mertesacker powered home a header five minutes before half-time to give Arsenal the lead at Vicarage Road. The German was allowed to run free at a Granit Xhaka corner and met the ball with the connection it needed. But Savage, who was working on the game as a pundit for BT Sport, could not believe why Tom Cleverley, who is substantially shorter than Mertesacker, was marking the Gunners skipper. “Well Watford haven’t played well,” Savage said at half-time.
