Premier League fears emerge over coronavirus spike with ’14 cases from 12 clubs’

The new Premier League season has been thrown into doubt by a huge increase in coronavirus cases. According to reports, there have been as many as fourteen positive tests across 12 different clubs, with champions Liverpool included in those who have been effected during the past week. Concerns have now been raised following the foreign holidays that were attended by club players and staff over the past few weeks of the close season, with the 2020/21 campaign starting in mid-September. The league only record 30 positive cases from around 35,000 tests during the successful Project Restart, making the recent tally look all the more worrying.
