Arsenal's Thomas Partey plan in tatters with stalemate in transfer with Atletico

Arsenal have reportedly reached a stalemate with Atletico Madrid in their transfer pursuit of Thomas Partey. The Gunners have been linked with the Ghana international for most of the summer but have been unable to find a breakthrough. Mikel Arteta is keen to add some solidity to his midfield and sees the 27-year-old as the perfect addition. Partey has a £45million release clause attached to his contract but the Gunners are yet to meet that figure. And, according to Sky Sports journalist Matteo Moretto , the Premier League club are unwilling to pay that amount.
