Why Gabriel Magalhaes snubbed Napoli offer in favour of £27m Arsenal transfer
Arsenal are close to finalising the signing of Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes. The Brazilian, 22, has attracted a wealth of interest this summer from the likes of Manchester United, Everton, Napoli and the Gunners. But Arsenal have won the race, with the player in London to put pen to paper on a five-year deal at the Emirates this week. Napoli were leading the chase at one stage after agreeing terms with the youngster earlier in the summer. However, Brazilian outlet UOL report Magalhaes pulled the plug on a move to the Serie A side in favour of a move to Arsenal.
