Mesut Ozil offered olive branch by Mikel Arteta over potential Arsenal return
Mikel Arteta insists there is still a way back for Mesut Ozil at Arsenal despite leaving the midfielder out of his Premier League and Europa League squads this season. Ozil was sensationally axed by Arteta last month, meaning he will be unable to ply his trade for the Gunners until January at least. The German will be expected to leave Arsenal at the turn of the year, or failing that when his eye-watering £350,000-a-week contract ends next summer. However, Arteta has opened the door for Ozil to make a shock return to his side in the second half of the season.
