Arsenal and England icon Kenny Samson diagnosed with brain disorder and dementia
Arsenal, Crystal Palace and England icon Kenny Sansom has been diagnosed with a rare brain disorder and form of dementia. The former left-back, who played for England on 86 occasions, has Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, which is described as reversible and treatable. His family confirmed that he had been hospitalised, but has now been released and is in new accommodation. Sansom is in the early stages of Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, and is receiving treatment. After an incredible playing career, Sansom fell on hard times when he retired, and suffered from alcoholism.
