From Abramovich to possible Newcastle owners - 11 football chiefs make rich list
It’ll come as no surprise that the Sunday Times rich list is littered with the good, the bad and the ugly of football owners. Figures associated with Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton, West Ham and Newcastle all appear in the rankings, released today. Chelsea’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich sits eighth on the list, with his £12bn oil and property empire helping to fund the Blues’ plentiful summer spending. The Russian bought the club in 2003, tripling the silverware in the Stamford Bridge trophy cabinet. He’s joined in the top ten by Alisher Usmanov, who held a significant stake in Arsenal until 2018, and David and Simon Reuben, who were tipped to takeover Newcastle United...
