England manager Roy Hodgson backs Luke Shaw to emulate former Arsenal and Chelsea star

England national team manager Roy Hodgson believes Manchester United defender Luke Shaw can emulate Ashley Cole‘s achievements at international level. The former Southampton youngster was handed a recall to the Three Lions squad for first time since late 2014 and was named in the starting XI for both of the recent Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Switzerland. The left-back produced two very accomplished performances and looks to have the edge in the battle to start in that position at next summer's tournament in France ahead of the more experienced duo Leighton Baines, who missed the double header through injury, and Kieran Gibbs.
