Arsenal to use Chelsea ace as evidence in red card appeal (not Costa)

Arsenal will ask the FA to reduce defender Gabriel's three-match suspension by using Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic as key evidence in their appeal, according to the Daily Telegraph. The Gunners defender saw red for kicking out at Chelsea's Diego Costa during a fiery London derby at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, which the Blues won 2-0. The Brazilian jumped to the defence of teammate Laurent Koscielny after the Frenchman was slapped by Blues striker Diego Costa in the first half, and eventually kicked out at Costa after referee Mike Dean appeared to have calmed the situation down, leading to him showing a red card to the 24-year-old.
