‘Don’t make us get the pizza out again!’ Arsenal fans react to Alex Ferguson’s past pursuit of Tony Adams
Arsenal supporters threatened to rekindle the infamous ‘pizza-gate’ after former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson branded Gunners legend Tony Adams ‘a United player in an Arsenal shirt’. In his latest book, Ferguson revealed he attempted to sign Highbury hero Adams as a youngster during his famous reign at Old Trafford, but was twice rebuffed by the loyal defender. "I thought he'd be absolutely perfect for United. I tried a little bit when he was 19, in the reserves, but no chance,” said the Scot.
