Southampton join Arsenal in race for £16m Colombian attacker
Southampton have stepped up attempts to land £16m Arsenal target Juan Quintero ahead of the New Year sales, according to reports in the Daily Star. The Colombian forward is on loan at Ligue 1 outfit Rennes from FC Porto, and Saints chief Ronald Koeman has reportedly sent scouts to run the rule over him. A regular international, he has 13 caps to his name and appeared at last summer’s 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where the Colombians impressed despite their quarter-final exit. Arsenal were said to have launched an £8.5m bid for him, though the Portuguese giants are rumoured to want almost double that for their talented 22-year old.
