Arsenal move ahead of Man United in race for midfield wonderkid

Arsenal are hoping to beat Manchester United to the signing of Exeter wonderkid Ethan Ampadu during the upcoming transfer window, Daily Star reports. The 16-year-old is also being tracked by Liverpool as well as Chelsea after already representing both the Wales and England squad at youth level. Despite interest from a host of Premier League giants, the Gunners are said to be favourites to his signature given that their youth coach, Kwame Ampadu, is his father. Ampadu Snr managed to make two appearances for the club during his career before moving on to play for West Bromwich Albion, Swansea City, Leyton Orient, as well as Exeter.
