Arsene Wenger finally set to splash cash to solve problem position as Arsenal close in on £30m deal

Arsenal are closing in on a potential £30m deal to make Granit Xhaka the most expensive midfielder in their history, according to The Telegraph. The Telegraph reports that Arsene Wenger is hopeful of completing the transfer early this summer now that Arsenal’s Champions League place is secured. Wenger is prioritising a new central midfielder and finally seems as though he is ready to splash the cash to solve what has long been a problem area. The Telegraph claims that Arsenal had hoped to to pay around £25m for the Swiss international, but Borussia Mönchengladbach had wanted closer to £35m.
