Özil makes official announcement over Euros & Ramadan
The Muslim event Ramadan arrives right before the Euro 2016 Championships this summer, and Mesut Özil – being Muslim himself – revealed on Germany's official website that he would not be fasting this year. Follow the author on Twitter: @Attlee The 30 day event usually comes with extensive fasting, starting this summer on Tuesday 7 June. This is just three days before the start of the Euros, and will run for pretty much the entire competition. There are a number of Muslim players set to compete in the competition, but with the exertion of matches, the heat, and the intensive training sessions, it's just not possible to fast.
