Alan Smith: 'I would be surprised if Arsenal offered Arsene Wenger a new deal'

Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith has admitted that he would be "surprised" if the club opted to extend Arsene Wenger's stay as manager. The Frenchman, who will celebrate 20 years in charge of the Gunners this September, will come to the end of his current contract when the 2016-17 season concludes. Arsenal's chief executive Ivan Gazidis today claimed that "nobody knows" when Wenger will vacate his post, despite many fans calling for the 66-year-old to walk away.
