Arsenal close to signing Leicester and England striker Jamie Vardy for £22m
GETTY BID MADE: Arsenal have activated Jamie Vardy's release clause The Gunners opened talks with Premier League champions Leicester last night after activating the release clause in Vardy’s contract. Starsport understands the Gunners were offered the chance to sign the England striker a month ago but turned it down. But Arsene Wenger has performed a U-turn and ordered club bosses to land Vardy this summer. The London outfit are willing to double Vardy’s wages by handing him a three-year deal worth a whopping £120,00-a-week at the Emirates.
