FA chiefs have identified Wenger as a potential replacement for Roy Hodgson, who stepped down last week following England’s exit from Euro 2016. Wenger, 66, currently in the final season of the three-year deal, has been the subject of a growing number protests from a section of Arsenal fans unhappy that they haven’t won the Premier League since 2004. And he denied at the end of last season that he had been offered an extension and indicated that he was happy to wait until the end of the forthcoming campaign.
