Arsenal end interest in Ligue 1 scoring machine due to £42m fee

Even though Marseille striker Alexandre Lacazette has been one of France's most consistent scoring threats over the last few years, it doesn't look like he'll be joining his countryman Olivier Giroud at Emirates Stadium next season. According to the Metro, Arsenal have ended their pursuit of the 25-year-old striker over Marseille's £42 million asking fee. Such a fee would have challenged the club-record fee paid to Real Madrid for playmaker Mesut Ozil in 2013. Lacazette recorded his second straight season with at least 20 league goals scored.
