Arsenal eye move for Premier League defender after Arsene Wenger receives tip-off
GETTY WANTED: Arsene Wenger has been tipped off about Fernandez The Sun claim Arsene Wenger has received a tip-off from his spies, who have identified the 27-year-old as a replacement for the injured Per Mertesacker. But they may be forced to pay £10m to convince Premier League rivals Swansea to do a deal. Mertesacker will be sidelined for a few months after suffering a knee injury in the pre-season draw with Lens. Laurent Koscielny is set to miss the start of the campaign following his Euro 2016 exploits while Gabriel has tonsillitis leaving Calum Chambers and new signing Rob Holding as Wenger's only options in central defence.
