Arsenal have tabled £26m offer for major target, Wenger desperate for deal
Arsenal have offered Valencia 30m (£26m) for the signature of Shkodran Mustafi, with Arsene Wenger eager to get a deal done, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport reporter Nicolo Schira. The Gunners were forced to field rookie Rob Holding and converted full-back Calum Chambers at the heart of their defence for their Premier League-opening loss at home to Liverpool last weekend, with Per Mertesacker and Gabriel both injured and Laurent Koscielny not yet match-fit following his EURO 2016 exploits.
