Arsenal prepare new Arsene Wenger contract as FA eye £154k-a-week boss for England job

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is once again among the favourites for the England job. According to the London Evening Standard, the Football Association are expected to make an approach for 66-year-old, after Sam Allardyce's 67-day reign came to an abrupt end. Meanwhile, The Mirror are reporting that Arsenal are braced for England's move and are preparing to combat it by offering Wenger a new contract at the Emirates Stadium. Wenger's current Gunners deal is due to expire at the end of the season. The Mirror claim he currently earns £8m a year, which breaks down to almost £154,000 a week.
