N'Golo Kante has been central to Chelsea's success and may be the best signing in the league for the second straight season. Their signings were separated by Euro 2016, but by precious little in price. May and July buys come from neighbouring countries and joined clubs in the same city. A London derby could have offered a direct comparison between N'Golo Kante and Granit Xhaka, the men bought to bring midfield muscle to their respective clubs. It won't, of course.
