Paul Merson: Only two Arsenal players could get into a top six starting XI - Ozil wouldn't
Arsene Wenger didn’t bring in a single senior signing in the transfer window last month much to the frustration of Arsenal’s fans. Things were made worse yesterday in the lead up to their clash with Chelsea today (12.30pm) as the French boss admitted he tried to sign N’Golo Kante in the past. But like so many times over the past two decades, the Gunners have fallen short when it comes to meeting the wage demands of players and other clubs with their hefty price tags. Arsenal are in ongoing negotiations with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil over handing them new contracts and risk losing the duo in the summer if they don’t improve their current salaries. GETTY
