Watford 'pull out of race for Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs'

Watford have abandoned plans to sign full-back Kieran Gibbs from Arsenal after being put off by his hefty valuation, according to a report. The 27-year-old recently re-emerged as a target for the Hornets after West Bromwich Albion made public that they would take their initial interest no further. Baggies boss Tony Pulis felt that Gibbs's price tag, thought to be around £16m, was too much and instead turned his sights elsewhere. The Daily Mail suggests that Watford will now go the same way, as the 10-cap England international has less than 12 months left to run on his current Emirates Stadium contract and is unlikely to feature regularly this season.
