Liverpool move ahead of Arsenal in race for Real Madrid star

Under fire Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is lining up a move for Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev, according to reports in the Metro. The Russian attacker has struggled to impose himself on first team proceedings at the Bernabeu, with a host of big names to jostle for a position with. He’s previously played for La Liga sides such as Sevilla and Villarreal, joining them on loan deals after graduating from the Madrid side’s youth system. The 24-year old has to contend with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez for a spot in Rafa Benitez’s starting eleven, so a deal could be on the cards.
